Understanding Cultural Competency in PACE

The presenters will define cultural competency, including the range of diverse cultures that should be considered in any program, and identify areas in medicine generally and in PACE specifically that provide opportunities for programs to address disparities.

  • Recognize how failure to address disparities affect patient care and staff satisfaction.
  • Recognize areas where disparities exist and need attention in the participant’s program.
  • Identify ways to address disparities in PACE.
  • Recognize how diversity impacts the culture in the PACE center.
  • Become familiar with out-of-the-box tools to use.
  • Express how to ask permission to learn from participants.
